Center Introduction

The Center for Natural Product Systems Biology was established to advance research on natural products and to apply big data and artificial intelligence to enhance R&D capabilities in natural product technologies. With the vision of pioneering a new paradigm in informatics-based natural product research, we continue to push the boundaries of natural product science as a key field in the future bio-industry. Our focus includes studying natural product–microbiome interactions through the generation of integrated natural omics data (compound, genomic, proteomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic data), advanced data analysis (biomath modeling, machine learning, and predictive analytics), and the development of AI-based technologies for discovering functional food and drug candidates.

Main Reserch
  • Research on the structures of natural compounds, drug targets, and strategies to improve bioavailability and PK/PD properties
  • Rapid discovery and mechanism-of-action studies of bioactive natural products using data science, artificial intelligence, and mathematical modeling
  • Investigation of immunomodulatory and bioactive effects based on human–natural product–microbiome interactions
  • Generation, analysis, and application of multi-omics data on natural products related to immunity, infectious diseases, and inflammatory disorders
